CDFI’s are “community development financial institutions” and focus on offering financial products to low-income and/or self-employed individuals who are hard for traditional banks to underwrite and also underserved communities.

Rates are competitive and loans are available up to $3.5 million with as little as a 25% down payment.

CDFI’s usually tend to offer easier products that do not require the borrower to provide proof of income and the focus is on borrowers who meet the criteria.

Funding may take a little longer than with conventional lending sources.
